Let me first say my interest and passion for this Nordic country started with business travel to Aarhus, Copenhagen, Aalborg, Billund (home to Legos), Odder and Lystrup. The Danes were open, hospitable and interested in learning about me and more about the United States.
Solta is an exquisite island, heaven on earth, while only being a 40 minute ferry ride from old town Split, Croatia. The one regret I have on day five of our trip is that we didn’t spend the entire day on this peaceful island. It is a destination that I will return to for a three day stay – at least!
A country’s cuisine, their food and their land give insight into their history, geography and culture. Food is integral to the culture of a people. That said, we started our day with a shopping trip to the local market in Old Town, Split. Along the Adriatic, fresh seafood is abundant and grilling is a favorite way to prepare the gifts from the sea.
Day One – Arrive in Split….Traveling across time zones can be tiring – so day one be kind to yourself – unpack your toiletries, bathing suit and pajamas. Get some fresh air, take a walk, enjoy a swim and sunbathe on the Adriatic Sea.
