A country’s cuisine, their food and their land give insight into their history, geography and culture. Food is integral to the culture of a people. That said, we started our day with a shopping trip to the local market in Old Town, Split. Along the Adriatic, fresh seafood is abundant and grilling is a favorite way to prepare the gifts from the sea.
Amsterdam, a city on canals, delights all the senses. It is a great city to start and complete your journey through Europe. On our way back from Split, Croatia we stayed at the Conservatorium Hotel, Amsterdam.
Day One – Arrive in Split….Traveling across time zones can be tiring – so day one be kind to yourself – unpack your toiletries, bathing suit and pajamas. Get some fresh air, take a walk, enjoy a swim and sunbathe on the Adriatic Sea.
Fly into Split, Croatia from many cities in Europe and discover the second largest city in Croatia. Ancient Roman ruins and palm-lined promenade facing the sea gives charm to this unspoiled destination.
Andreas Canyon, an oasis in the desert, home to more than 150 species of plants within a half mile radius, invites us to enjoy the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. A 2.5 hour drive east from Los Angeles, arrive in Palm Canyon, considered the world’s largest California Fan Palm Oasis.
