South Africa: A Game Changer
Why travel to South Africa? It is a game changer. Until you’ve listened to a former political prisoner speak to you while touring Robben Island – until you walk the streets of Cape Town knowing that approximately 22 years ago, the government was apartheid – until you spend five days in the bush – a visitor in the animal kingdom’s backyard – until you land in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, South Africa and get your luggage faster here than anywhere else in the world.
Until you realize that all is not perfect in Cape Town, Pretoria, anyone – nor anywhere else in the world – until you understand the heartbreaking lessons of hatred and racism that took place on Robben Island – and why it resonates with human beings from all over the globe – the lessons learned from our time spent listening to Sparks, a former political prisoner for seven years on the island, where cold winds were the political prisoners constant nightmare – where food was distributed according to kingdoms or their skin color and castration was done along racial lines…..
SOUTH AFRICA is a game changer.
Visiting South Africa is a game changer because of its incredible diversity of landscapes, wildlife, and cultures. South Africa offers an experience that can truly change your perspective on the world. Seeing iconic wildlife such as lions, elephants, and rhinos in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Additionally, the rich history and diverse cultural heritage of South Africa provide a deep understanding of the complexities and triumphs of the human experience. Whether you’re exploring the vibrant streets of Cape Town, embarking on a safari adventure, or learning about the country’s storied past, South Africa has the power to change the way you see the world.
The transformative impact that a trip to South Africa has on travelers can be googled. For me, visiting Cape Town and Kruger National Park (outside of Hoedspruit, Limpopo, South Africa) made me realize how insignificant I am on the world stage. Realizing human beings are just part of the ecosystem and that survival of the fittest plays out daily in the bush without interference from human beings – is mind blowing – until you’ve seen it with your own eyes. Zoos become a problem and humanity stirs deep in one’s soul.
Cape Town
After landing in Cape Town, visiting the world’s Robben Island Museum should be your first stop. This historical site holds immense significance as it was once a place of imprisonment for anti-apartheid activists, including Nelson Mandela. By touring the island and hearing firsthand accounts from former political prisoners, visitors gain a deeper understanding of South Africa’s complex history and the struggles endured during the apartheid era. The lessons learned from this experience will set the tone for the rest of your journey, providing important context for exploring other sites and engaging with the local culture.

survival of those blessed to be born where they are…or not.
As always your insights cause one to think. Think differently.
