The Best things to do on the Ring of Kerry.

The Ring of Kerry is considered Ireland’s most scenic route because it showcases the stunning natural beauty and cultural diversity of the southwest coast of Ireland. The 179 km circular drive around the Iveragh Peninsula (largest peninsula in southwest Ireland)  takes you through lush green hills, colorful towns, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, ancient ruins, and national parks. You can see views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Skellig Islands, the Lakes of Killarney and the Kerry Mountains along the way.

Our driver, Paul, was AMAZING. He was thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable and always planned a surprise stop along the way. One surprise was the stone structures and walls built to protect farmsteads and villages during the early Christian period. Next was Skelligs, a surprise chocolate factory along the Wild Atlantic Coast in Kerry County. https://skelligschocolate.com/  We purchased homemade chocolate clusters, shards and truffles for our family – not to mention free tastings during our visit. Last, but not least was the charming seaside town of Waterville Village, County Kerry. Charlie Chaplin spent much time there – the town erected a statue in his honor.

Did I mention we had the best conversations on our three-day drive with Paul? Our topics ranged from food, currency, history, geography, education, traffic patterns, national parks, …..you name it, we discussed it.

A trip of a lifetime that keeps giving back!
